Myanmar Visa Information
Guide for Myanmar visa! We offer brief Myanmar visa information including : where to apply Myanmar visa, the requirements, and eVisa.
Obtaining a visa is required to enter Burma except for people in some Asian countries that have signed a bilateral agreement with Burma. As of Aug 1, 2018, visa-free travel is permitted for countries like Brunei, Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, and Vietnam. The free-visa entry list will be included Japan and South Korea from Sep 2018.
The visa can be issued :
Please note that the visa issued by the Burmese authorities is valid for 3 months after the date of issuance or for a period of 28 consecutive days on site. Also, we advise you not to ask too soon but not at the last minute either. Embassies and consulates require between 5-10 working days for the formalities. It is best to start your process at least three or four weeks before departure to avoid any unexpectancy.
The requirement of applying Myanmar visa at embassies is slightly different, sometimes it takes two photos, sometimes only one. Therefore we recommend you check their formalities first. In addition, it is best to call before going to embassy to make sure it is open because sometimes embassies closed several days in the Burmese New Year in April, for example. The visa can be obtained by mail in France and Switzerland. It is free for children under 7 on the passport of one parent.
Necessary papers to the embassies :
This simple and convenient formality for travelers was implemented in September 2014.
So you can apply for your eVisa on the official website of the Burmese Ministry of Immigration: http://evisa.moip.gov.mm/index.aspx .
The approval of this visa will be sent (in your email) within 3-5 working days after the request. This is considered a prior authorization for the real visa on arrival. You must print it to present to the Burmese Immigration on arrival at one of the international airports in Myanmar : Yangon, Mandalay and Naypyidaw. They will stamp your passport.
Evisa costs 50 US dollars. This amount is not refundable in case of refusal (rare for tourists). Payments will be made directly on the site by credit card (Visa, Mastercard, American Express and JCB card).
Please note that your passport valid for 6 months after date of return is still required.
